The Solon Stars Swim Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Solon Stars Swim Club to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities. Senior Elite (Ages 14-19): This is a highly competitive training group for high school age swimmers designed to prepare them for performing at the highest level of competition they can achieve (LSC champs, USA Sectionals, Junior Nationals, Senior Nationals and Olympic Trials) as well as preparing them for high school swimming. The training emphasis will be on increased aerobic conditioning in all four strokes through the training of specific energy systems, developing and maintaining advanced stroke mechanics, perfecting race strategies, nutrition, and individual goal setting. Training will include a specifically designed dry land program.

Senior (Ages 14-19): This is a highly competitive training group for high school age swimmers designed to prepare them for performing at the highest level of competition they can achieve (LSC champs, USA Sectionals, Junior Nationals) as well as preparing them for high school swimming. The training emphasis will be on increased aerobic conditioning in all four strokes through the training of specific energy systems, developing and maintaining advanced stroke mechanics, perfecting race strategies, nutrition, and individual goal setting. Training will include a specifically designed dry land program.

Age Group Elite (Ages 13-14): This is a highly competitive training group for middle school age swimmers designed to prepare them for performing at the highest level of competition they can achieve (LSC champs, Zones, USA Sectionals, Junior Nationals) as well as preparing them for high school swimming. The training emphasis will be on increased aerobic conditioning in all four strokes through the training of specific energy systems, developing and maintaining advanced stroke mechanics, perfecting race strategies, nutrition, and individual goal setting. Training will include a specifically designed dry land program.

Age Group Middle School (Ages 13-14): This is a competitive training group for middle school aged swimmers designed to prepare them for performing at the highest level of competition and to prepare them for high school swimming. The training emphasis will be on increasing aerobic capacity, continuing to develop stroke mechanics and underwater kicking, and mastering concepts related to race strategy, nutrition, and goal setting. Training will include a specifically designed dry land program.

Age Group (Ages 9-12): This is a competitive training group designed to prepare swimmers for the highest level of competition they can participate at (LSC Champs, Quads, and Zones). The emphasis of this group is on mastering the following skills necessary to become successful competitive swimmers: training etiquette, advanced stroke mechanics, training and race strategies, goal setting, nutrition, and the ability to handle increased training yardage. Swimmers will participate in dry land exercises emphasizing basic core body strength.

Developmental 2B (Ages 8-11): This is a highly competitive developmental group aimed at developing strong technical skills and a strong aerobic foundation, where the focus is on ensuring that the athletes are having fun, and forming strong team bonds through teamwork. The training emphasis of this group is centered on continuing to develop strong fundamental skills in all four strokes, starts, turns, underwater work, and Individual Medley. This group will be introduced to racing skills and strategies. This group will build their aerobic foundation through gradually increasing both the volume and intensity of work. Swimmers will participate in dry land exercises emphasizing basic core body strength.

Developmental 2A (Ages 8-11): This is an advanced developmental group where the focus is on ensuring that the athletes are having fun, and forming strong team bonds through teamwork. The training emphasis of this group is centered on continuing to develop fundamental skills in all four strokes, starts, turns, underwater work and Individual Medley.  This group will begin to build a good aerobic foundation through both increased kicking and swimming. Swimmers will participate in dry land exercises emphasizing basic core body strength.

Developmental 1C (Ages 6-10):This is an advanced developmental group where the focus is on ensuring that the athletes are having fun (develop a long term love of swimming), forming strong team bonds,  continue developing strong fundamental skills in freestyle ,backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, building a great kicking foundation, and continuing to  develop their racing skills. Swimmers will participate in dry land exercises emphasizing basic core body strength.

Developmental 1B (Ages 6-10):This is an entry-level group where the focus is on ensuring that the athletes are having fun (develop a long term love of swimming), forming strong team bonds, developing strong fundamental skills in freestyle and backstroke, beginning to develop legal breaststroke and butterfly, building a great kicking foundation, and continuing to  develop their racing skills. Swimmers will participate in dry land exercises emphasizing basic core body strength.

Developmental 1A (Ages 6-10):This is an entry-level group where the focus is on ensuring that the athletes are having fun (develop a long term love of swimming), forming strong team bonds, developing strong fundamental skills in freestyle and backstroke, beginning to develop legal breaststroke and butterfly, building a great kicking foundation, and continuing to  develop their racing skills. Swimmers will participate in dry land exercises emphasizing basic core body strength.

Pre-Competitive (Ages 5 and Above): This is an entry-level group where the focus is on ensuring that the athletes are having fun (develop a long term love of swimming), forming strong team bonds, developing fundamental skills in freestyle and backstroke, begin to comprehend breaststroke and butterfly. 

Masters: This group is designed for the 18 and over adult swimmer that doesn’t swim college or H.S. and wants to train 3 times per week and stay in shape and occasionally competes in USMS or USA meets.
 
All group changes are subject to the coaching staff’s discretion. If we feel it is in the swimmer’s best interest to move up or stay in the current group, with explanation we will do this.
