 The Solon Stars competed this past weekend at the LESI Senior Championships in Akron. We finished 4th overall and 3rd on the women's side. The following swimmers achieved best times or made finals and scored points: Adam and Dane Bozsvai, Philip Bradshaw, Maria Coy, Halle D'Amico, Mike D'Arcy, David Finkelstein, Shannon Finnerty, Matt Gaydos, Emily Gill, Megan Gross, Chris Guo, Sarah Haley, Jessica Jin, Anna Jones, Kayla Korenowski, William Lane, Dana Lautenschleger, Alex Lingafelter, Samantha Lisy, Alyssa Mahle, Jack McNulty, Broc Miller, David and Mary Motch, Anthony Nedelka, Brock Nelson, Grant Pinchot, Becca Porter, Deandra Sargeant, Josie Stummer, Anthony Telerico, Patrick Tippen, Tim Wintering and Anna Wong.

Congratulations to Dana Lautenschlager (1650 Free) and Samantha Lisy (500 Free) for winning their events.

Special congratulations go out to the following swimmers who broke team records: Mary Motch (15-16 and Open 100 Back: 57.56 and 15-16 100 Fly: 57.74), Samantha Lisy (17-18 200 Back 2:08.07 and 17-18 and Open 400 IM: 4:27.87). The womens 200 MR team of Mary Motch, Maria Coy, Samantha Lisy, and Kayla Korenowski broke the Open record with a time of 1:48.98.

The Solon Stars kicked of the start of championship season by competing at the LESI 8 & Under Championship meet at Youngstown State University. The following swimmers all recorded best times:

Congratulations to our own Masters swimmer Jack Groselle for setting a Masters Swimming World Record in the 400 SC Meters Freestyle with a time of 4:35.11. Here is a  link to view the story

The Solon Stars had a very busy weekend, besides competing in Cincinnati we also same at Hubbard in the Fabulous 50's Meet as well as the Distance Pentathlon at Spire.

Swimmers achieving best times at the 50's meet included Charlie Asplin, Anagha and Meena Chandrasekharan, Bridget Ferris, Aiden Fitzgerald, Jadyn Fondran, Sara Formica, Ben Grossman, Madison Machado, Desha and Devan Perera, Grace Perlberg, Julia Sell, and Miles and Rilie Szach.

Swimmers also had a chance to complete their IMX scores at the Distance Pentathlon. Swimmers scoring points, getting best times, or finishing their IMX scores included: Caleb Cosentino, Ashlyn Doorley, Aiden and Bryson Finelli, Fiona Fisher, Owen Hanna, Madison Machado, Lydia Mazzoli, Samantha McCarthy, Joseph Richmond, Drew and Molly Russell, Kate Stavnicky, Helen Sun, Rilie Szach, Henery Tavens, Nick Telerico, Jared Toaz, and Danielle Turi.

The Solon Stars travelled to Cincinnati this past weekend (1/31-2/2/2014) to compete in the TYR Winter Sport Invitational. We swam very well finishing in 15th place against some of the best teams from the Cincinnati and Columbus area. We had multiple swimmers make finals and score points for the team as well as many best times. Finalists included:

Special congratulations go out to Chris McFarland who won the girls 13 & Over 100 Back with her first ever Sectional cut in 59.71.
